About Me

L.D. Murphy was raised in the mythical Mojave Desert. Packed in a house occupied by four generations of his family, his love for storytelling blossomed through constant tales told to him by his grand and great-grandparents alongside the local legends seeped into the desert lands. After being published in the Young American Poetry Digest, L.D. redoubled his efforts to perfect his writing craft. He subsequently joined his high school’s newspaper before being scouted by Fresh!nk, a sister paper to the Victor Valley Daily Press. His video game articles soon caught the eye of employees at Nintendo of America, earning him the honor of being a Nintendo sponsored video game critic.

Upon graduating high school, he moved to NYC to continue pursuing a career in journalism. However, as time went on L.D. realized that he wanted to round out his talents by learning how to create art as well as report on it. After a few years spent working up funds through various jobs, L.D. saved up enough to go back to college. He attended Full Sail University’s Creative Writing for Entertainment program and landed a job at Paper Moon Puppet Theatre. Both experiences sharpened his artistic skills, teaching him not only how to craft stories, but captivate audiences with them as well.

Nowadays L.D. uses his skills as a freelance wordsmith. He has worn many hats over his career, including content writer, proofreader, editor, ghostwriter, copywriter, screenwriter, and many more. Lately, L.D. has delved into investigating the behind the scenes tales of beloved video games and the unsung heroes who created them with Retro Gamer Magazine, Time Extension, and Did You Know Gaming. He also happily plugs away at his own creative endeavors whenever he has the time.
